Mr. Salman Burney joined the Board of Directors of Habib University Foundation in April 2025. He previously served as Vice President and Area General Manager for GSK across Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan.
He began his career at ICI Pakistan in Sales & Marketing and went on to hold diverse roles both in Pakistan and the African Eastern Region. At ICI plc in London, he served as General Manager of the company’s Agrochemicals and Seeds business.
Mr. Burney joined the company in 1992 and was appointed Managing Director of SmithKline Beecham in 1997, with expanded responsibilities for Iran and the Caspian Region. He later became Managing Director of GSK in Pakistan, overseeing its pharmaceutical operations in Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan.
He holds a degree in Economics from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, UK. In addition, Mr. Burney has served as President of the Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Pakistan and, as Chairperson of the MNC Pharma Association, has represented the industry in engagements with the government on key policy matters.
